Wheels in Motion

App & Book Design / 2022

Assigned with crafting a booklet centered on a chosen passion, I undertook the creation of "Wheels in Motion," a comprehensive guide tailored for cycling enthusiasts within the San Diego community. This booklet highlights key cycling establishments while adhering to a unified design framework, ensuring a seamless and visually engaging reading experience. An emphasis on maintaining a consistent grid system sustained the project's structure, facilitating the integration of quotes alongside location features, each meticulously composed to evoke a sense of harmony and continuity.

The thematic elements of "motion" and "speed" served as guiding principles throughout the design process, driving the utilization of dynamic techniques such as color gradients, motion blurs, and transparency alterations. This strategic blend of bold color palettes and contemporary typefaces not only captures the essence of group cycling but also fosters resonance with a diverse audience, underscoring the guide's relevance and accessibility.

Additionally, I was tasked with extending the project's reach by conceptualizing and designing an app rooted in the principles of user interface and experience design. Building upon the foundation laid by the Wheels in Motion Booklet, this mobile application serves as a dynamic digital counterpart.

Beyond utility, the app offers a platform for social connectivity, enabling users to forge connections, register for events, and coordinate local gatherings with ease. By infusing a contemporary aesthetic with innovative functionalities, "Wheels in Motion" ushers in a new era of community engagement and exploration in the realm of cycling.
